Tony Romo: Cowboys 'Kind of Snake-Bitten Right Now'

Dallas' Tony Romo, a Pro Bowl quarterback the past three seasons, has thrown seven interceptions in just five games. Only San Francisco's Alex Smith, a bust five years after being drafted first overall, is being picked more often. Not so coincidentally, the 49ers are one of just five teams (Buffalo, Carolina, Cleveland and Detroit are the others) with a worse record than the 1-4 of the once-mighty Cowboys.

"It's funny because I don't know how many picks I've thrown this year, but I swear half of them have either hit our guy or something," Romo said after tossing two more in Sunday's 24-21 loss at Minnesota. "We're kind of snake-bitten right now. We have to figure out a way to play good and not beat ourselves. It's too bad because in stretches we're doing a real good job."

True enough. The Cowboys have outgained their opponent every week and hold a whopping 593 yard edge on the year. Dallas is third in total yards and fourth in passing. Romo was 24 of 32 for 220 yards and three touchdowns against the Vikings. And yet, he threw the ball right to middle linebacker E.J. Henderson on third-and-1 with the game tied 21-21 in the fourth quarter. Seven plays later, Minnesota's Ryan Longwell kicked the game-winning field goal.
