As World Series Moves to Texas, Rangers Have Yet to Show Up

SAN FRANCISCO -- Dear State of Texas:

Thank you very much.

Signed, your friends in California.

Our economy's hurting, so folks could use a morale boost. Big as Texas, you're doing your part this fall.

Real friendly like, your football team in Austin let our unranked boys from UCLA run all over them last month.

Better yet, your baseball team from greater Dallas showed up in San Francisco this week and left a trail of smiles. Those Texas Rangers couldn't have been nicer. They gave the Giants four errors in Game 1 of the World Series, the most they'd made all season. Then they came back 24 hours later in Game 2 and issued four consecutive walks Thursday night. The final score was 9-0.

Now it looks like San Francisco will finally get its first World Series trophy, but really, the whole country owes you a thank you.

Your NFL Cowboys are 1-5, which has made a lot of folks happy.

And before they buddied up to the baseball Giants, your Rangers trounced the Yankees, word of which caused an entire Southwest Airlines flight to cheer once the plane landed in Philadelphia last week.
